Hey you guys! Glad you stopped by. Today’s topic is one that I feel strongly about especially for anyone wanting to jump into this digital world. What is an Influencer? Blogger? Digital Creator? And how should you classify yourself getting started?
When I first started my journey as a what I like to call (digital creator) I was on YouTube making beauty videos. I slowly transitioned to a web platform and started my blog in 2014. With the little knowledge I had, I would share outfit photos from looks I would gather from the thrift store (See below). Through that experience this landed me smaller gigs.
I then studied the craft of marketing and media, which allowed me to really perfect and hone my craft as a blogger/influencer which landed me in magazines and larger paid campaigns.
So let’s break down the difference between Influencer, Blogger, Digital Creator:
Influencer/Digital Content Creator: An influencer is a person who can ignite their audience to do an actionable thing. Such as buy, invest, participate, in some form of call to action. An influencer is a Marketing company or Consumer Package Goods company’s dream! Instead of investing thousands of dollars into Media Campaigns on TV’s and Billboards, they invest in influencers who have a greater impact in sharing something with their audience with the intention of their audience buying it!
According to: Sprout Social
An influencer is someone in your niche or industry with sway over your target audience.Influencers have specialized knowledge, authority or insight into a specific subject. Their pre-existing presence in a niche makes them a useful launching pad for brands in search of credibility. 85% of marketers engaged in influencer marketing in 2017 and 92% said their campaigns were effective.
An influencer assists companies in “influencer marketing,” a form of advertising that builds brand authority on the back of another person’s reputation.
Influencer Marketing- is a Billion Dollar Industry. And most people feel more connected to becoming an influencer. All you need is a Instagram Account (that has an audience). As most advertisers prefer Instagram. Some influencers do not have websites or YouTube pages.
Digital Content Creators: Will usually have some form of social media platform they use to showcase their influence. They tend to be on Instagram, Facebook or YouTube.
Blogger- So being a blogger is slightly synonymous with being an influencer however, being a blogger usually means you’re writing content on a website. Most Influencers who have a website are classified as Influencer/ Blogger.
According to Dictionary.com a blogger is:
blogger- noun
a website containing a writer’s or group of writers’ own experiences, observations, opinions, etc., and often having images and links to other websites.a single entry or post on such a website: She regularly contributes a blog to the magazine’s website.
verb (used without object), blogged, blog·ging.
to maintain or add new entries to a blog.
to express or write about on a blog:She’s been blogging her illness for almost a year.
Now that you have an idea you can decide on how you want to classify yourself. If you have an Instagram you will want to 1. Turn your profile into a business profile 2. Select how you want to identify yourself! Awesome! Let me know below what do you classify yourself as and why?
