On our trip to Rome Italy, we did a day trip to Venice. My husband is a very smart man, because he always knows just where to look when booking our trips. He technically serves as our travel agent. Upon arriving to Italy and getting out of the airport we headed downstairs by the rental cars, shuttle and train stations. In Italy, traveling by train is very safe (at least for us it was) we were approached by several shuttle bus/ taxi service personnel and they will try to convince you that riding with them is cheaper, but it actually was cheaper to ride the train, and our hotel was only a 10 minute walk from the drop off point.

Step 1: Beware of the rental car/shuttle car personnel (if you want to travel by train, don’t let them convince you otherwise, because they will! Adrian was adamant about taking the train and I am so glad we did, it was 30 minutes from Rome and the scenic view on the ride there was gorgeous!

Step 2: When you get to the train ticket kiosk, you will need to purchase your ticket (just like riding the metro in DC or New York)

Step 3: Head to the area and catch your train

All you have to do is make sure you arrive on time (because the train will leave) and from there you can pretty much travel to Florence, Venice, Pompeii or anywhere else in Italy.

Key things to remember when traveling by train:

1. Keep an eye on your items
2. Have your train ticket ready to show the attendant
3. Pick seats by the windows!

As I said before, we didn’t have any issues traveling by train, it was an awesome experience and we definitely will be doing it again! Plus it’s super cheap. Hope this helps 🙂
